We have a mutual aid agreement with the Nitro Fire Department. Nitro's Quint works in our area where other ladders will not. We appreciate the City of Nitro, their Mayor, the Fire Chief, and Fire Department for helping us bring resources to our community.

WHVFD is a member of West Virginia's
Adopt-a-Highway program |
WHVFD placed 3rd in firefighting, 3rd in Firefighter Combat Challenge, and Paula Randall Best overall participant at the 2002 WV State Firefighters/EMS Competion . This was the first time WHVFD participated in the history of the fire department. We are extremely proud of these firefighters.
